About Smt Ambujam Balakrishnan (1943 - 2008)
Mrs. Ambujam Balakrishnan (who along with Smt Chandramathi teacher who were the backbone of the BSS Calicut Ashram), breathed her last on 12.06.2008. Smt Ambujam was an icon of love and self-giving. She lived her life serving others. Her undiluted devotion for her Guru, until the last moment even while the cancer cells where giving her discomfort, bestowed her with the grace and peace of mind to accept the departure of her body and completely merge with Brahman. The very touching scene was when as directed by Gurudev over phone, a red rose was kept on her body on behalf of Gurudev -- remembering the devotion-filled roses that she offered at the feet of Gurudev whenever He visted the Ashram. It is hard to find a person like Smt Ambujam who represented nothing but love, sacrifice and selflessness.
